ASL 2011: Ludwig & Gardiner

Christopher Ludwig is a Vancouver based composer, poet, educator and flute player. He holds Bachelor degrees in Music and in Education, as well as a Masters degree in Composition from the University of British Columbia. Ludwig is a passionate and prolific composer of Art Song.  To date, he has completed over 50 songs and 3 major song cycles.  A recording of his song cycles entitled “Outward Voyage” was released in 2009 and features the writings of Vancouver Island poet Ken
Cathers.  Currently, Ludwig is in the process of producing an extensive three-hour recording of his Art Song settings of the poetry of William Carlos Williams. Mr. Ludwig is an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre.

Elee Kraljii Gardiner directs the Thursdays Writing Collective in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. She is the editor and publisher of four chapbooks and the coeditor, with John Asfour, of Vancouver V6A an anthology forthcoming from Arsenal Pulp Press. A frequent collaborator, she leads workshops on creativity and social writing. Her work appears in Canadian and US publications and is forthcoming in Spanish translation. A dual citizen, she is from Boston and lives in Vancouver with her husband and two children.
