ASL 2011: Noakes & Fedosenko

Ryan Noakes was born in Kamloops, BC, where he grew up thinking life was a musical with his parents constantly playing and singing along with records. An accomplished singer, he has been a member of numerous choirs and vocal ensembles, and has performed in several musical theatre productions.Ryan received his Bachelor of Music with Distinction from the University of Victoria in 2008, majoring in composition with Christopher Butterfield. While at UVic, he was a two-time recipient of the Murray Adaskin Prize in Music Composition, and helped to establish two new vocal ensembles at the university. After graduating, he was a founding member, manager, and composer-in-residence of the Vancouver Island Chamber Choir. He is currently in Vancouver pursuing his MM at UBC, studying composition with Dorothy Chang and Keith Hamel.




Katie Fedosenko is the writer and publisher of two chapbooks: Expo (2008) and ma(n)chine (2010). Hailing from the salmon capital of the world, Campbell River BC, she now researches digital poetry at University of British Columbia and moonlights as a social media astronaut.  Her collaborations with Ray Hsu (Aftermap, Pop and Population: The Branding of Vancouver) have appeared in Mainly Main, Branch and Dandelion Magazines. Her poetry was most recently published in the Summer 2011 issue of Ignite Magazine.
