ASL 2012: Balzun & Blair

Calgary native Joel Balzun attended the University of Calgary before attending Biola University in California, where he currently studies with Robert Denham. He has received international recognition for his work, winning prizes in multiple competitions including the National Broadcast Orchestra’s Galaxie Rising Star Composers’ Competition. Joel’s music has been performed by Calgary Civic Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Dallas Wind Symphony, National Broadcast Orchestra, University of Calgary Wind Ensemble, and other solo musicians and ensembles in Canada and the USA. His music has been broadcast on CBC Radio 2 and Espace Musique.

A former women’s professional basketball player, Kelsey Blair holds a BA from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto. A freelance writer and producer, her work has been published and produced locally, nationally, and internationally.
