ASL 2012: Gainey & Gardiner

Christopher Gainey (b. 1981) earned Bachelor and Master of music degrees from Peabody Conservatory in composition, guitar, and music theory before receiving a Ph.D. in composition from the University of Iowa. Until recently, he was a lecturer in composition at Grinnell College and a visiting assistant professor of music theory and composition at the University of Iowa. He is currently pursuing a second Ph.D. in music theory at the University of British Columbia where the focus of his research is the role of timbre in twenty-first century music.

Elee Kraljii Gardiner directs Thursdays Writing Collective and is the coeditor, with John Asfour, of V6A: Writing from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, an anthology from Arsenal Pulp Press. A poet and frequent collaborator, her work appears in US and Canadian publications.
